Bask in the Sun on Santa Maria Beach
Sink your toes into the golden sands of Santa Maria Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Verde. Enjoy the crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and water sports. Grab a beach towel, soak up the sun, and relish the breathtaking ocean views. Important thing to never forget your sun lotion.
Kite Surfing
Sal is renowned for its strong and consistent winds from mid November till end of April, making it a mecca for kite surfers and other wind addicts. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, there are plenty of schools along the coastline that offer lessons and equipment rentals, specially at Kite Beach, there you have Mitu & Djo Kite Surf School Cabo Verde (if you click the name a new tab with their website will open or if you prefer calling you can do so through +238 994 33 49), from Cape Verdian Kitesurf World Champion, Mitu, and Djo Silva a multidisciplinary pro, this guy was built for sports! They have a pretty nice restaurant/lounge/small shop set up there, plus they are right on the main part of Kite Beach. Another thing with them is they have a webcam page and a wind meter, this two being accessible by everyone clicking on the links. Another safe choice would be 100 Piedi Kite School (+238 99 74 947) right next to Mitu & Djo on the same Kite Beach, and Atlantic Star Nautical Center (+238 584 44 26) at Hilton Hotel on the south of the island. Independent on which one you choose you’ll be very well received and looked after. Send hugs from Andre from Toyota!

They’re awesome! If you happen to go to them, Zsuzsanna or Luidgi send my regards, from Andre from Toyota.
Live Music and Local Culture
Immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture by attending live music performances. Check out the local bars and clubs in Santa Maria for a taste of Cape Verdean music, dance, and hospitality. Ocean Cafe, Mecky’s Burger Bar beautiful upper deck, The Box, The Dubliner – Irish Bar, Sol e Doce right at the pier, Atlantis, Pao Quente Bakery is a must, these for food and entertainment. There’s another one we recommend for the surf and chill vibes and this is Angulo Beach Club, from Hawaiian Windsurf World Champion, Joshua Angulo. If you happen to meet him send a hug from Andre from Toyota. Buddy Bar , best bar in our opinion in Sal, with live music. Quiosque Óla Brazil , awesome place for end of afternoon caipirinhas and fries. For gelato you can’t miss Giramondo, both at the main pedestrian street and at Angulo Beach.
Turtle Watching Nesting & Hatching
If you visit during the right season, normally August to October, consider taking a guided tour with Project Biodiversity, this is the responsible and safe way to witness the nesting and hatching of loggerhead turtles on all the costal line of Sal island. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Say Hi to Albert and Berta for me, they’re wildlife protection rockstars!
Cabo de Santa Maria Shipwreck
Explore the eerie beauty of the Cabo de Santa Maria shipwreck, stranded off the coast of Sal. This abandoned vessel adds a touch of mystery to the island’s landscape, creating a unique photo opportunity. You’ll pass by it on your way to Shark Bay.
Shark Bay
Venture into Shark Bay to witness the graceful movements of nurse sharks, gliding through the clear waters with an elegance that belies their powerful presence. This unique encounter offers an unforgettable opportunity to observe these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. Usually you have to rent some water shoes or crocks there which will cost you 2€.
