We conduct most of our kitesurfing lessons at Brouwersdam because of the excellent conditions: stable wind, minimal currents, relatively flat water, and plenty of space. What sets us apart is our personalized approach. We are IKO certified, meaning we are trained to tailor each kitesurfing lesson to you, ensuring you learn kitesurfing in a fun and safe way! Being a small, mobile kitesurfing school at Brouwersdam allows us to be flexible with the conditions and choose the best times for your kitesurfing lesson.
Many schools also offer group kitesurfing lessons (3 or more people), where the instructor divides the time on the kite among the participants. This can be a fun option for a group of friends or family, but it’s not the best for your progress. Since our focus is on providing the best opportunities for you to progress, we only offer private and duo kitesurfing lessons. In a private kitesurfing lesson, all the time with the kite is yours, maximizing your opportunity to develop and improve your skills. In a duo kitesurf lesson, you share the kite time with your partner or friend, but you can also learn from the tips and improvements given to them, creating a good balance.
For private or duo kitesurf lessons at Brouwersdam, you’ll find the best deal with us! Check out our kite lesson prices and packages here. And if you find the same lesson package cheaper elsewhere, let us know, and we’ll match the price!
During your first kitesurfing lesson, you'll learn the basics of kitesurfing. We start with some theory, including wind and the safety system. Then, it’s time to fly the kite for the first time, where you learn to do this safely and controlled. You might even go into the water with the kite in your first kitesurf lesson to try your first body drags.
In your second kitesurf lesson, you'll learn how to control the kite in the water, what to do if the kite falls into the water, and how to position yourself, the kite, and eventually the board to go upwind. You may even try your first water start.
During the third lesson, you'll mainly focus on the water start and making your first meters. The golden rule here is: practice, practice, practice. This is the biggest step during your kitesurf lessons. There’s a lot happening at once, and it can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. But every water start brings you a step closer to the moment everything clicks, and you're up! It’s an incredible, euphoric feeling and the beginning of your new addiction.
